    Sweetener (Sweeteners) is a kind of food additive that gives food or feed a sweet taste. There are many kinds of sweeteners. They can be divided into: natural sweeteners and artificial sweeteners(according to their source); nutritive sweeteners and non nutritive sweeteners(according to their nutritional value); sugar and non sugar sweeteners (according to their chemical structure and properties).

  Natural sweeteners, such as glucose, fructose, sucrose, maltose, starch sugar and lactose sugars, et al, they have been consumed by people for a long time and are important nutrient and raw food materials for people. They are not considered as food additives in China.

  Nutritive sweeteners are sweeteners whose sweetness are the same as sucrose, the calorific value is more than 2% of the caloric value of sucrose. Non nutritive sweetener refers to the calorific value below 2% of the calorific value of sucrose.

  People has paid increasingly attention on natural, non nutritive sweeteners. Those sweeteners with high sweetness, little dosage, less calorific value and do not participate in the metabolic process, are the development trend of sweeteners.

  1.Sucralose

  Sucralose(TGS) is an artificial sweetener and sugar substitute, about 600 times sweeter than sucrose. It is safe, no caloric, stable under heat and over a broad range of pH conditions. Therefore it can be used in baking or in products that require a longer shelf life. It is easy to dissolve in water while not easy to generate foaming when dissolved. So it can be used in carbonated beverage canned filling production line. It is one of the most excellent functional sweeteners. 

  This sweetener has Specific Optical Rotation

  2.Neotame

  Neotame is an artificial sweetener made by NutraSweet. It is white crystalline powder, about  4.5% crystalline water. It is between 7,000 and 13,000 times sweeter than sucrose (table sugar).  It is moderately heat-stable, extremely potent, rapidly metabolized, completely eliminated, and  does not appear to accumulate in the body. It is chemically similar to the artificial sweetener  aspartame, but is used at vastly lower levels and is more stable.
